Sourcing By Design is a boutique fashion sourcing and design agency, collaborating with both Australian and international brands. From humble beginnings in Hong Kong in 2008, today SBD has dedicated teams in both Brisbane, Australia and China. Meet the Team
Katie MacDonald – Director
Founder of SBD, Katie has 23 years experience in fashion design and product development for Australian and international fashion brands. Working in both Australia and China, Katie has in-depth knowledge of product design, manufacturing and brand growth.
Jennifer Constantinou – Designer and Account Manager
Jennifer recently joined SBD in 2020. With 5 years experience, she is skilled in supplier sourcing, local and offshore production, quality control and technical illustrations. Jennifer also brings 10 years experience in consulting and project management.

Sourcing
We use global resources, international trade fairs and forecasting services, to source all components required by the fashion and lifestyle industries including materials, leather and accessory components, manufacturers and suppliers.
We have an established and reliable network of premium suppliers and our reliable third-party quality control officers are available to quality check factory standards, samples and production as required.
Manufacturing
SBD has established connections with an extensive network of trusted manufacturers in China, India and Europe with a dedication to provide quality manufacturing and working under ethical standards.
Through effective communication, we will successfully coordinate the production process through all stages including sampling, price negotiation, material ordering, bulk production and final delivery.
Our dedicated third-party quality control officers undertake inspections of samples and production before shipping, ensuring products are of the highest quality.
Sustainability
We can assist brands to find innovative solutions including sourcing alternative materials, reduction of wastage or reuse of offcuts, design of more sustainable packaging, as well as partner with suppliers committed to sustainable manufacturing practices.
Our knowledge and understanding of ethical and sustainable standards and certifications enable our clients to be confident that the suppliers sourced align with their brand’s values.
